Port City Blues Society Players

The Port City Blues Society Players perform during June’s Live@5 concert and ART ROCKS: Summer Bash.

ASC’s long-running concert series Live@5 features jazz, blues, and rock & roll at 5 p.m. on the first Friday of each month! Entry is $5 for ASC members and $10 for nonmembers. Complimentary beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages are included.

About The Port City Blues Society Players

The Port City Blues Society Players is a group of musicians, all members of the Port City Blues Society, an organization affiliated with The Blues Foundation and dedicated to preserving the blues art form. 

This collection of seasoned musicians plays frequently at concerts, clubs, casinos, festivals, blues jams, fundraisers and other venues. Recently, the band has played for the Big Steam Music Festival, Smoke on the Water, Newport Downtown Entertainment Series and Saracen Casino Resort. The band will be playing for the Arkansas Roots Festival in April 2023. The band plays regularly at the Port City Blues Society blues jam every week in Pine Bluff.

Regular members of the band include Jerry McCoy (guitar, vocals), Dave Sadler (guitar, vocals), Butch Scaife (guitar, vocals), MellowDee Groove (Vocals), Roscoe Willis (Bass), Gene Cooper (keyboard) and Lex Capraitalia (drums). 

The band’s music consists of both traditional and modern blues reflecting each member’s stage and studio experience from years of performing.    

Port City Blues Society, an affiliated member of The Blues Foundation, seeks to preserve and promote blues music, the culture of Delta blues, and educate the public about the history of the blues in the region. Port City Blues Society hosts a free weekly blues jam every Wednesday evening at RJ's Grill & Bar in Pine Bluff where area musicians converge to play live blues from 8 PM until 11 PM.
