ASC Public Programs Coordinator Shakeelah Rahmaan demonstrates a “Do It Yourself” project on making marbled paper, featured on YouTube and Facebook. Alongside Wednesday’s videos, free “Take & Makes” kits will be available at ASC’s main entrance breezeway from 1-3 p.m. Wednesdays. Unlock some fun with ASC’s safe and sanitized art and science activity bags.

Due to worldwide health concerns, The Arts & Science Center will remain closed to the public through Friday, April 17, 2020.

Curator Chaney Jewell will provide interactive stories and trivia that will engage viewers on past exhibitions through ASC’s Facebook and Instagram pages. Gain insight into objects from ASC’s permanent collection and within exhibitions.

Tinkering Videos — Tuesdays & Fridays

Scratch your STEAM itch with ASC’s new tinkering videos posted on Tuesdays and Fridays. Visitors can tune in for do-it-yourself activities and challenges that anyone can do at home.

Around the House Crafts — Wednesdays

Unlock some fun at home with creative art- and science-focused crafts you can do with supplies you already have around the house.

Virtual Second Saturday Family FunDay: Earth Day Slime — Saturday, April 11, 1 p.m.

In celebration of Earth Day (April 22), make your own green slime!  Participants of all ages can follow along on Facebook and YouTube as Public Programs Coordinator Shakeelah Rahmaan demonstrates how to make fun, slippery slime using household ingredients!

ASC’s Second Saturday Family FunDay program offers monthly hands-on arts, science and theater activities led by visiting artists, art educators and ASC staff. Family FunDay is sponsored by the Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, an affiliate office of the Arkansas Community Foundation Inc.

ASC invites the public to View the historical photography exhibition Roderick Terry: One Million Strong from Thursday, April 30, to Saturday, Sept. 19. “On The Pulse of Morning” depicts black men from all over America who, on Oct. 16, 1995, came together in Washington, D.C., for the Million Man March.

Roderick Terry: One Million Strong Exhibition — Opens Thursday, April 30

The public is invited to the historical photography exhibition Roderick Terry: One Million Strong, opening Thursday, April 30. 

The show celebrates black men from all over America who, on Oct. 16, 1995, came together in Washington, D.C., at the Million Man March. Photographer Roderick Terry captured the excitement and jubilance during this massive and peaceful demonstration. Terry is a Pine Bluff native and Dollarway High School graduate.

The date for a free public reception will be announced later.

This exhibition is sponsored by Simmons Bank and will run through Saturday, Sept. 19.

Rescheduled Events

Live@5 featuring Damen Tolbert — rescheduled for Aug. 7

April’s Live@5 featuring Chicago-born saxophonist and UAPB Music Professor Damen Tolbert has been rescheduled for Friday, Aug. 7, 5-7 p.m.

ASC hosts jazz, blues, and rock & roll musicians on the first Friday of every month, 5-7 p.m. Admission is $5 for ASC members and $10 for nonmembers. Complimentary alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages are provided and guests must be 21 or older to enter. This event is sponsored by M.K. Distributors.

Charlotte’s Web Performances — rescheduled for September

ASC has postponed the April performances of Charlotte’s Web until September. Show dates and times will be announced later. The production is sponsored by Relyance Bank.
