2022 Tinkering Event Features Horticulture Activities

The ART Yard at The ARTSpace on Main buzzed with visitors on Saturday, Sept. 10, during ASC’s TinkerGarden event. All activities were free and open to the public.

The 2022 edition of the annual hands-on, all-ages Tinkerfest focused on gardening and horticulture. Activities included painting decorative garden rocks; making bee hotels; decorating clay pots and planting seeds in them; and testing one’s herb knowledge at the sensory herb garden.

Volunteers from two local community gardens — GSC Community Gardens and Grace Gardening Inc./State Street Good Earth Garden — were also on hand to speak with visitors.

Obafemi Kinsiedilele and Freddie Savage Jr. with GSC Community Gardens gave a demonstration, teaching visitors about composting and the process of creating fertile soil. GSC also had its mobile farmers market van on site.

TinkerGarden was sponsored by the Pine Bluff Area Community Foundation, an affiliate office of the Arkansas Community Foundation.
